Back Support

Lumbar Support

The lower back, due to its specific function and lack of adequate care, is particularly prone to damage and strains and these are often greatly helped by the assistance of appropriately used lumbar care and back care support aids. Occupational hazards and lack of back care may account for the reported prevalence of back pain and lumbar problems appearing to increase. In women, the middle age years often see an increase due to the onset of osteoporosis. Statistics appear to reveal that back pain and lumbar problems increase in direct response to occupation and lifestyle choices and lack of care and in middle age, gender plays a role. In all these situations, however, suitable back care and lumbar support education could prove to be extremely useful.

Back pain accounts for more time off work than most other injuries. Hardly surprising when you consider that the lower back has to support most of the body’s weight and, as body weight increases combined with lack of adequate back care, the lower back is having to carry more than its fair share of that excess weight.  Doctors in the US report that as many as 6 million people in the USA suffer from varying degrees of lumbar pain. Australia reports 3,937,000 lumbar pain cases while, in the UK, 4 out of every 5 people have reported varying degrees of back and lumbar problems at some time during their working lives.

Back care and lumbar care and support aids offers some degree of relief in soft tissue strains to many of the bony conditions that can occur in the lumbar region along with appropriate back care. Adductor muscles can cause considerable strain on the lumbar region while sharp lumbar pain with restricted movement can occur due to sacroiliac joint inflammation and iliolumbar ligament sprains. Myofascial pain and sciatica result in significant pain in the back and can be greatly helped by the use of a suitable back care and support systems and lumbar support. Fortunately, there is an extensive range of lumbar care support aids in the market that have been designed to take some of the strain off the lumbar region and provide suitable care and back support. These come in many designs, from elastic support braces to neoprene back care supports and lumbar support belts together with inversion tables that can care for your back and help recover from the effects of compression due to gravity associated with your normal daily activities.

Back care support cushions, together with wedges and lumbar rolls can help reduce gravity-compression back pain. Most of such care and support aids are also designed to offer a greater or lesser degree of compression. Universal designs in support aids tend to consist of a neoprene panel with a serried row of stays for additional lumbar care and support, often with adjustable Velcro fastened side strips for better care, fit and support. Other back care and lumbar support systems offer suspenders that can be worn over the shoulders. Some good varieties of back care and lumbar support belts provide excellent compression and support to the back and lumbar area quite effectively. Many more such care and support aids are available amongst our extensive stock of lumbar care and support  aids. The sacro lumbar support aids have two layers of elastic sewn together at a particular angle that provides extra support and comfort to the back.

These lumbar and back care support aids plus many more can be found amongst our extensive range of back care and support aids and lumbar belts.
